IT analyst group Yankee Group has been bought by a
private equity firm, in the latest big change in the IT research
community.
Alta Communications has purchased Yankee for an undisclosed sum
from Decision Matrix Group, which only acquired Yankee from Reuters
last year.
With the acquisition, Yankee Group president and chief
executive Brian Adamik is leaving the company. Emily Nagle Green,
most recently chief executive of Cambridge Energy Research
Associates, will take his place as chief executive.
Green said, “I have known and respected Yankee Group's work
since I first became a client of technology research in the late
1980s. It is an exciting time of change in the industry and I am
confident that Yankee Group’s strong brand and independent heritage
will provide a solid foundation for growth.”
The IT market research industry has undergone significant
changes in recent times, with Forrester having bought Giga Group
and Gartner acquiring Meta Group.
