EMC is continuing to expand its data archiving arsenal
with the acquisition of Acartus.
Acartus operates in data areas such as distribution, archive
replacement, data mining, and enterprise content management
(ECM).
Last week, EMC announced the acquisition of Building Captiva
Software, an input management software supplier that helps firms
convert paper-based information to digital formats.
The latest acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, is part of EMC’s
wider strategy to make it easier for firms to bring together
different data silos to enable them to quickly access information
to satisfy operational and regulatory requirements.
Acartus’ technology will be integrated with EMC’s Documentum
software and Centera data storage platforms.
