Security company Qualys has integrated its Qualysguard
on-demand vulnerability management product with the Network
Admission Control programme.
Network Access Control is a Cisco-driven industry initiative
which aims to ensure that only authorised devices can connect to a
network. Any device that is not running the latest anti-virus
update or security patch is denied access or given restricted
access.
The tie-up with Qualys will allow users to audit network access
without the need for additional software on the device.
Support for Network Access Control has been integrated into the
Qualysguard scanner appliance. This allows users to audit hosts and
network devices, including PCs, laptops, printers and wireless
access points, to identify vulnerabilities and determine whether
they are allowed to access the network, Qualys said.
Once an audit is completed and the device is found to be secure,
access to the network is granted automatically.
