Veritas has patched a security flaw in its Java
authentication service running on the firm’s NetBackup
products.
The vulnerability potentially allows remote hackers to gain
access to information stored on back-up servers and clients.
This is the third Veritas back-up security flaw in around four
months, and comes just after security firm Symantec completed its
acquisition of the company in a multi-billion dollar deal.
Veritas said NetBackup versions 4.5, 5.0, 5.1 and 6.0 running on
all platforms are affected by the threat.
No exploit code for the latest vulnerability has so far appeared
on the internet, but recent Veritas flaws led to customers being
targeted by hackers.
