Swiss bank UBS has signed a multi-million pound hardware
and managed services deal with Dell covering desktops and
notebooks.
The four-year deal covers 30,000 new desktops and notebooks in
UBS’ Swiss branches and all PCs installed in branches outside
Switzerland, including the US and the rest of Europe.
The managed deployment services agreement covers installation
and 24-hour local support of systems.
“Dell won the contract because of the global availability of its
products, its exceptional price/performance ratio and its
convincing offering in the services area,” said Scott Abbey, UBS
chief technical officer.
“By standardising the PC infrastructure worldwide we can achieve
a substantial cost reduction in this area,” Abbey said.
Dell OptiPlex GX280 desktops and Dell Latitude D410 and D610
notebooks will replace existing UBS PCs.
