Broadband supplier Bulldog is planning to launch a
video-on-demand (VoD) service to subscribers in October, which will
include films and other premium content.
Bulldog, which is owned by Cable & Wireless (C&W),
currently offers users a broadband service that can operate at up
to 8mbps, which is good enough to support VoD.
Michael Philpott, an analyst at Ovum, said, “Bulldog has always
been known for its innovative products,” but he said that the
company was facing complaints from some users about its customer
care.
“Bulldog will certainly have the technical capability to launch
such a service, as it will have C&W’s new next-generation
network sat behind it. The question is whether it has the right
strategy and customer care support in place to make VoD a success,”
said Philpott.
Prices to use the Bulldog VoD service are yet to be
confirmed.
