Oracle has announced that its Discoverer 10g tool has
been certified for use with the Peoplesoft Enterprise Performance
Management 8.9 analytic applications suite.
The database giant said the certification for EPM was part of
its commitment to allowing Peoplesoft users to maximise their
existing technology investments, while offering the benefit of
Discoverer 10g's reporting, analysis, customisation and
web-publishing capabilities.
The fate of longstanding Peoplesoft users has been a sensitive
issue since Oracle bought up its rival early this year. Some
Peoplesoft customers feared they would be forced to migrate should
Oracle fail to support their existing systems.
“With the certification of Oracle Discoverer 10g for Peoplesoft EPM
8.9, Peoplesoft customers finally have the option of standardising
on an end-to-end business intelligence framework from a single
vendor,” said John Wookey, senior vice-president of applications
development at Oracle.
But obtaining the newly certified version of Discoverer 10g
means buying the Business Intelligence 10g package of which it is a
component part – at a cost of $20,000 (£11,059) per processor or
$400 per named user.
Oracle Business Intelligence 10g is also included with the
enterprise edition of Oracle’s Application Server 10g.
