The company behind the BlackBerry device is launching a
new awards scheme to recognise the achievements of women in
technology.
The BlackBerry Women and Technology Awards, run in conjunction
with professional women's networking group Aurora, will reward
women who are using technology to help advance their company or
career.
Awards will fall into eight categories, recognising the
contribution of women in the corporate, public, SME and academic
sectors. There will also be awards for best female technology
journalist and female role model.
IT firms will be able to compete for an award that will go to
the technology company most committed to advancing female
talent.
Charmaine Eggberry, a vice president at Research In Motion, the
company that makes BlackBerry, said, “The awards have been created
to identify women and organisations that are utilising technology
in an innovative and creative manner.
“We are looking for winners from all business sectors whether
they are a small start-up company using technology with an
entrepreneurial flair or a government organisation that has
identified ways to streamline its communications.”
The deadline for entries is 31 August. For more information on how
