Dell has launched a package of hardware, software and
support aimed at businesses running Exchange Server 5.5 to help
them upgrade before Microsoft ends support for the old software at
the end of the year.
The bundle includes a pre-configured server, storage and
software as well as professional support and training services to
help businesses move to Microsoft’s Exchange Server 2003.
Linda York, vice president of global alliances marketing in
Dell's product group, said: “Dell is leveraging the combined power
of three — Dell, EMC and Microsoft — fully integrated server,
storage and software solutions to provide customers with a single,
reliable source of standards-based Exchange-migration options.”
Dell is offering a range of configurations to suit different
sized businesses, from those with fewer than 100 e-mail users to
those with up to 5,000 mailboxes. All packages include software
training and three years of support.
It said an organisation with more than 4,000 mailboxes might
choose a bundle of two PowerEdge 2850 servers, a Dell/EMC CX300
with PowerVault 136T storage solution and Exchange Server 2003
enterprise edition.
A smaller business with 150 e-mail users but high-availability
requirements might choose a PowerEdge 2800 server with an AX100
Dell/EMC storage array and Exchange Server 2003 standard
edition.
