Business managers are becoming more closely involved in
managing IT projects, according to CIO Connect.
Just over 70% of CIOs said senior business managers get involved
in major IT projects - an increase of 25% on last year. However,
33% of CIOs believe business managers have limited knowledge of
what IT can do.
Thirty three per cent of CIOs said there was an interchange of
staff between IT and other parts of the business - slightly lower
than last year. "This is regrettable, since business placements and
other forms of intense interaction between IT and the business are
a valuable means for exchanging ideas," the report said.
The report also found that 41% of business managers have a say
in the selection and management of strategic IT suppliers, up from
31% last year.
Sixty six per cent of CIOs said the top business/IT steering
council was becoming more effective in their organisation, and 75%
said they now often suggested new business systems to senior
business colleagues.
