Car giant
General Motors reduced its worldwide information storage costs by
20% during 2004 by using EMC software, systems and
services.
General Motors has
standardised its IT infrastructure across its global operations on
EMC technology, deploying a tiered storage infrastructure
consisting of EMC's Symmetrix, Clariion and Centera (CAS) systems,
and combining it with EMC software, including ControlCenter, SRDF,
TimeFinder and Documentum to support its information lifecycle
management strategy.
EMC said
information lifecycle management strategies helped businesses to
manage increasing volumes of information from creation to disposal
based on its changing value to the business.
