Oracle is trying to poach SAP business software users who are unsure whether to upgrade to mySAP or mySAP Business Suite.

Oracle says SAP requires customers who choose to upgrade from SAP R/3 to mySAP ERP or mySAP Business Suite to re-license and re-implement the applications, which it says can cost customers significant amounts of time and money.

As part of its “OFF SAP” campaign, Oracle is offering SAP R/3 customers up to a 100% license credit to switch to alternative Oracle applications. Oracle is also offering a free SAP “migration insight”, which includes an assessment of a customer’s existing business software plans.

Oracle Financing is also offering a two-year payment plan for Oracle application license and support fees, with no interest and no payments for six months, followed by six instalments.

Oracle president Charles Phillips said, “94% of Oracle E-Business Suite customers are running on the latest applications - Release 11i.  But SAP seems to be requiring customers to re-license their applications to upgrade to SAP's latest technology.”

Phillips said, “Only 6% of SAP’s customers have upgraded to mySAP ERP, according to analyst Gartner. Now they have a low-cost alternative to stop paying for upgrades.”
