The Learning and Skills Council has awarded Xansa a
two-year IT contract extension worth £24m.
Xansa has worked with the Learning and Skills Council since March
2001 and the extension will cover IT systems development, support
and related services. It will support management information
activities and systems that will allow the council to provide
smoother, more efficient funding and planning processes for post-16
education in the UK.
David Russell, director of resources at the Learning and Skills
Council, said, "This agreement allows the Learning and Skills
Council to focus its energies on providing the joined up
information and services that will deliver the transformation of
skills that the British economy needs now and in the future."
Samad Masood, an analyst at Ovum Holway, said the original council
contract was worth £12m in its first year and the value of the
extension - worth another £12m each year - contrasted with the
current trend for contracts to decrease in value as they mature.
