Chemicals company Akzo Nobel has signed a multimillion-pound deal
with Indian IT services supplier Wipro Technologies to implement a
global distributed IT environment.
The supplier will help Netherlands- based Akzo Nobel Chemicals
implement a shared IT environment by providing infrastructure
management services for distributed datacentres across multiple
locations in Europe and the US.
Akzo, which employs 64,500 people in more than 80 countries, will
also use Wipro's global delivery platform and quality of service
procedures to maintain and enhance a wide range of applications,
including SAP business software.
"Wipro was chosen for its ability to understand our idea of a
shared IT environment and design a solution which would provide us
with the best returns," said Gerard Helmink, chief information
officer at Akzo Nobel Chemicals.
