Pharmaceuticals and chemicals giant
Akzo Nobel has hired IT services company Wipro Technologies in a
multimillion-pound deal to implement a global distributed IT
environment.
Wipro will help Akzo Nobel Chemicals implement a shared IT
environment by providing infrastructure management services for
distributed datacentres across multiple locations in Europe and the
US.
Akzo will also use Wipro’s global delivery platform and quality
of service procedures to maintain and enhance a wide range of
applications, including SAP business software.
“Wipro was chosen for its ability to understand our idea of a
shared IT environment and design a solution which would provide us
with the best returns," said Gerard Helmink, Akzo Nobel Chemicals
chief information officer.
Akzo Nobel, headquartered in the Netherlands, employs 64,500
people in more than 80 countries.
