Novell launches Linux datacentre
programme
Novell has introduced the Novell Validated Configuration Programme
for deploying Linux applications on datacentres. It can develop,
test and validate integrated configurations to address security and
systems management problems. The programme will support high
availability, virtualisation, monitoring and application hosting.
It is aimed at high-performance computing architectures for
large-scale transaction processing environments, Novell said.
Select customers to receive Veritas
software
Veritas is to give selected users early access to its Storage
Foundation High Availability software on SuSE Linux Enterprise
Server 9. The software brings together Veritas Cluster Server,
Volume Manager and File System in an integrated, online storage
management and high-availability product for enterprises deploying
either Unix or Linux. The software is due to be generally available
in the third quarter of 2005.
Novell to acquire Tally Systems for
Zenworks
Novell is to acquire IT asset management software provider Tally
Systems and will use its products in the Novell Zenworks systems
management offering. Tally produces a set of integrated tools with
discovery and inventory, licence management and software usage and
trend analysis capabilities.
Linux Small Business Suite 9 due this
year
Novell Linux Small Business Suite 9, a server-to-desktop Linux
product will be released later this year. It will consist of Linux
server and desktop software and collaboration, security and
management products, all engineered specifically for Linux.
