SAP will this week unveil a new suite of products for utility companies.

SAP for Utilities - built on its existing Enterprise Services Architecture and powered by integration tool SAP NetWeaver - is designed to make it easier for utilities to cope with customer switching between providers and meet regulator demands.

SAP said impending European Union rules for more open market competition in the utility market are another driving force for the strategy among utilities.

The software will be unveiled tomorrow at SAP’s conference for the utilities industry in Vienna. The conference will be attended by more than 1,000 utility company representatives.
