Leicester City Council Social Services has deployed an
electronic document records management (EDRM) system to meet
October’s Electronic Social Care Record (ESCR)
deadline.
The aim of the ESCR initiative is to replace paper-based case
files with electronic records that store all information such as
e-mails, letters, case notes and assessment forms in a central
location.
Social services have until October to implement an EDRM system
that enables unstructured data to be stored, accessed and managed
electronically.
By using the EDRM software the council’s social workers will be
able to manage documents such as letters, case files and
audio/video content electronically.
The system provides simultaneous access to multiple users and
will help to improve customer service through better record
management.
Jonathan Hill, IS strategy and projects manager of Social Care
and Health at Leicester City Council, said, "The new solution will
provide our staff with a single, secure view of all records
relating to a client."
This means that when a social worker is making an assessment
they will have access to far more information, which will help the
council to provide better services for its customers, he added.
