Good Technology is making its Goodlink wireless
messaging and data access software available in the
UK.
Goodlink 3.0 software will allow the delivery of corporate
e-mail to PalmOne's Treo 600 PDA customers and to those using
mobile phones based on Microsoft's Pocket PC operating system.
In an agreement with Orange Personal Communications Services,
the Goodlink software can be installed on an enterprise's servers
and will then provide access, over Orange's network, to corporate
e-mail and other systems such as CRM and ERP over the Treo
handhelds, said Good's vice-president of marketing and product
management Sue Forbes.
Customers will, however, pay Good directly rather than paying
through Orange.
"We changed our business model last year and chose to co-sell
with the carrier, because we find that a lot of customers want to
deal directly with the software provider. It gives them more
comfort about support," she said.
The cost of the server software, client software and support for
both is about £180 to £200 per user per year, with volume
discounts available for large customers.
Good is also working on European language versions of its
software and hopes to expand into other European markets later this
year.
