Norwich Union has signed a 10-year extension to a global
software licensing contract with Computer Sciences Corporation for
the insurance application Exceed, jointly developed by the two
companies.
The extension furthers a relationship between the UK insurance
giant and CSC which has been in place since 1988. CSC developed
Exceed in conjunction with Norwich Union and three US insurance
companies.
The system allows Norwich Union employees to gain access to
Norwich Union’s mainframes and administer policies via a web
browser or mobile devices. It is used by 1,000 insurance brokers in
the UK with Norwich Union using Exceed to process about two million
insurance policies annually.
Alex Robinson, IT director of Norwich Union Insurance, said, "In
our 15-year relationship with CSC, we have contributed to the
development of several generations of software. The Exceed platform
is the best solution yet, and an important part of our programme of
systems rationalisation, helping us reduce costs and drive
complexity out of our business."
The Exceed system integrates policy administration,
underwriting, billing, claims, documents, image archiving and
business intelligence.
