Two small networking suppliers have launched network
configuration management products designed to give IT managers
greater control over switches, routers and other network devices
made by different companies.
Rendition Networks unveiled Version 2.0 of its TrueControl
configuration management software, as well as a pair of
configuration control appliances.
Meanwhile, AlterPoint upgraded its DeviceAuthority software.
The market for configuration management technology is starting
to take off because so many companies are putting more demands on
their networks by adding web services and data-rich applications
such as multimedia.
Large networking companies such Cisco Systems sell configuration
management tools, but only for their own devices.
