Colt Telecom group has introduced two services,
EuroLANLink and CityLANLink, designed to allow enterprises to build
their own end-to-end international networks based on Ethernet
technology.
With the service, enterprises can connect their Lan's to Colt's
long-distance network in Europe and metropolitan networks in 32
major business cities using SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy)
technology.
While many of Colt's customers request IP VPN (Internet Protocol
virtual private network) service, a large number still wish to
build their own easy-to-use Ethernet networks.
By connecting their Lans to Colt's wide area network,
enterprises will be able to simplify network management, reduce
customer premise equipment costs and easily add bandwidth if
necessary.
Customers will be able to request and upgrade bandwidth at
levels of 2Mbps, 4Mbps, 6Mbps, 10Mbps, 50Mbps and 100Mbps.
Colt owns a 20,000km network that directly connects more than
9,000 buildings in 32 cities in 13 countries, with an additional 27
points of presence across Europe.
