The European Commission gave the go-ahead for US-based
Tech Data's acquisition of UK networking services company, Azlan
Group.
The commission investigated the market for distribution of IT
products and the indirect distribution of data networking products,
which is where the European Union's competition regulator suspected
the firms' activities would overlap.
"The operation does not raise any serious competition concerns
on these product markets regardless of whether the market is
national or European," the commission concluded.
Tech Data is a distributor of PC-related hardware and software
products to computer retailers throughout the US, Canada, Latin
America, the Caribbean and in Europe. The firm offers after-sales
support, training and financial services to its customers.
Azlan is a pan-European distributor of networking products. Its
business also consists of offering networking-related services, and
it operates in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland,
France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain,
Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
