Valid Information Systems launched a Java-based e-government
information system at the Oracleworld conference in Copenhagen last
week, writes Eric Doyle.
R/KYV (pronounced "archive") v9i has Public Records Office approval
and runs on Oracle's application server to provide access to stored
information through PCs and a range of mobile devices. The common
interface can be used to access word-processed documents, images,
spreadsheets and e-mail, whether stored on disc, CDs or video
media.
Stuart Turner, a senior vice-president at Oracle, said the
combination of the Java/ XML software running on the Oracle 9i
database results in "a fully scalable, flexible and cost-effective
off-the-shelf e-business solution that can comply fully with any
governmental legislation".
The company said integrating the software with Oracle's portal and
application server as a Web-based system meant that deployment is
faster and performance is up to four times faster than previous
versions of R/KYV. Additionally, the product's search capabilities
and integration with authoring tools have been expanded.
R/KYV v9i contains a records management module that complies with
the Data Protection Act.
