Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) and BAE Systems have signed a deal worth $102m (£69m) to expand their existing IT outsourcing agreement by a further five years.

The new contract - to run concurrently with the current global agreement - covers IT outsourcing for BAE's information and electronic warfare systems (IEWS) business unit in the US. The unit produces electronic protection systems and tactical surveillance and intelligence systems for the defence industry.

CSC will be responsible for managing all the IT operations for the unit, including midrange and desktop computers, WAN and LAN systems, Internet services, help desk support and procurement.

CSC and BAE Systems already have a close relationship, having signed a $2.2bn, six-year IT outsourcing agreement in November 2000.

Commenting on the new deal, Lem Lasher, CSC's managing director of the global BAE Systems account, said: "Through these contract expansions, CSC continues to strengthen its relationship with this leading company in the dynamic aerospace and defence industry. We are working together to create an unmatched global IT infrastructure and environment."
