More than half of the IT managers polled in this week's Computer Weekly/Harvey Nash Big Question survey said their company's software costs will increase as a result of Microsoft's software licensing changes.

Last week, Computer Weekly revealed the extent of IT departments' concerns over the new Microsoft licensing terms, which were announced in May. Microsoft had claimed that only 20% of its customers would see an increase in costs.

But 54% of IT managers questioned said their software costs will increase. Only 8% said costs would not change. None said costs would fall.

Many companies are still reviewing the situation, with 38% of respondents unsure whether costs will increase as a result of the changes.
