Lloyds of London has launched a secure Web hosting service for
companies operating within the Lloyds insurance marketplace.
Nick HuberThe service - a network protected by multiple firewalls - sits
between Lloyds' own network (LIN) and the Internet.
The hosting service allows customers to develop their own
business applications and manage their own Web sites in a buffer
zone.
"By offering a buffered zone between the LIN and the Internet a
high degree of protection can be given against unwanted access or
even attack," said Brian Potter, manager for infrastructure
services at Lloyds.
Users can access the service globally through secure Web sites
as well as exchange sensitive data across the Internet using either
user ID and password identification or SecureID token
authentication.
