A British subsidiary of the world's largest roof tile company is
outsourcing the management of its SAP enterprise resource planning
software.
Systems integrator Logica is to manage the SAP system on behalf
of Redland Roofing Systems, in a bid to provide the company with
low start-up costs, rapid deployment, fixed pricing and a reduced
dependence on in-house IT.
Redland's SAP rollout was implemented by Fast Track Consulting,
but this company is unable to offer a hosted SAP service.
Redland IS manager Howard Cotterill said, "It's a sensitive
situation."
The outsourcing contract lasts five years and makes Logica
responsible for the company's Microsoft NT operating system, SAP
Basis, Oracle database and Compaq hardware. The company will also
supplement Redland's internal SAP staff with additional resources
during upgrades or busy periods.
