A graphical tool for editing Extensible Markup Language (XML)
schemas has been released by Popkin Software. The tool could help
users to simplify the creation of standard document definitions,
writes Daniel Thomas
Envision XML enables the generation, management, modification
and deployment of schema (the structure of a database system) of
XML, which is the favoured markup language of e-business. XML
schemas make it possible to manage XML-based transactions at a high
level and ensure a consistent data architecture across enterprise
applications.
"Envision XML is designed to give organisations the ability to
render all business-critical information e-ready, regardless of
where the data resides, empowering IT to fully support the
enterprise as it positions itself within the e-business world,"
said Chris Nugent, vice-president of global sales at Popkin.
Envision XML is designed to speed up migration to XML, which is
the more robust heir to HTML (hypertext markup language), which is
used on most Internet sites.
The tool de-skills the development of XML data structures and
analyses and describes documents and data structures in a graphical
manner, which should enhance the interpretation and functionality
of those structures.
