The finance industry is at risk from cybersquatters because
companies in the sector are failing to register their brand names
on the internet, according to new research.
The financial sector has only a 39% registration rate for
company names within all top-level domains, a survey by domain name
registrar, Speednames reveals.
Although most companies register their name under the .com
domain, they are failing to protect their brands in the country
code domains, particularly in central Europe.
Manufacturing companies, alongside the finance sector are among
the worst at registering their domain names while IT, Telecoms and
the pharmacuetical industry are among the best.
Companies should register all their corporate domain names,
along with key brands and trade marks within all the top level
domains, including ,com, .net, .org and in all country code top
level domains, said Speednames.
