Antony SavvasIT and telecoms have the worst record for job continuity in the
UK, with 16% of staff lasting less than one day in a job and 20%
lasting less than one week.
A survey of employees in all industries by online
recruitmentagency totaljobs. com,runby Computer Weekly publisher
Reed Business Information, also found that 20% of IT and telecoms
staff lasted less than one month in a job.
It found that only 14% of IT staff questioned could say their
shortest ever job lasted over a year, this compared to 23% in
industries overall.
In addition, almost two-thirds of IT staff admitted they were in
the wrong career. And 88% said they would like to swap jobs for at
least a day.
The survey questioned 1,150 employees, with 150 of them in
IT/telecoms.
