Microblogging platform Twitter will introduce a button to report abusive behaviour on its website and Android app next month.
This implementation comes after a string of bomb and rape threats against UK women in the public eye.
The campaigner to keep women on banknotes, Caroline Criado-Perez, was targeted on Twitter with threats of rape a week ago.
This sparked a petition for Twitter to add a reporting button to its platform.
Twitter already implemented an “in-Tweet report button” in its latest version of the iOS Twitter app and on its mobile website.
In a blog post, Tony Wang, UK general manager and Del Harvey, senior director, trust and safety said: “We are committed to making Twitter a safe place for our users. We are adding additional staff to the teams that handle abuse reports and are exploring new ways of using technology to improve everyone’s experience on Twitter.
"We’re here, and we’re listening to you,” they wrote.
