Remote access, 1998-style!

Anyone out there remember Banyan Systems? We'd all but forgotten about the company until this video turned up.

In 1998, your editor worked in marketing and public relations and one of my employer's top clients was Banyan Systems.

By 1998, Banyanh's heyday was behind it, but the company had a good idea: using the Internet for remote access, instead of point-to-point connections sustained by modems dedicated to the task.

The video below, which I scripted and unearthed during a summer holiday cleanout, explains the then-ingenious concept!
