Presence Networks, a provider of secured real time unified communications solutions, has announced Networker 4.0, what it says is the industry’s first secure transport gateway for real time unified communications.
As part of a corporate plan to provide a fully comprehensive secured real time unified communications solution, Networker 4.0 incorporates technology from the messaging and telephony markets. It enables organisations to embrace collaborative working while minimising the business risks that other public instant messaging (IM) gateways bring to the enterprise. In addition, Networker is claimed to enhance user productivity and corporate security while reducing business costs.
“Instant messaging revolutionised online communications in the 1990s with millions of people ‘chatting’ to one another over their favourite IM service, usually from their workplace often in defiance of company orders and at risk of breaching corporate security. Server-based software – enterprise instant messaging – promises to stem the leakage. It can also provide unified communications, integrating IM with voice over IP telephony, Web conferencing and ordinary email.
"While highly functional, all this demands a significant investment in infrastructure and in-house expertise.” Commented Roger Whitehead, Senior Analyst, Bloor Research.
