SAP has widened its analytics offering for performance management with the acquisition of Pilot Software.

Pilot, which has been acquired for an undisclosed sum, specialises in strategy management software. SAP described the acquisition as a “critical piece” in its portfolio of analytic applications for effective performance management across organisations.

Founded in 2002, Pilot Software has more than 150 customers worldwide using its strategy management systems across a variety of industries, including financial services, the public sector and retail.

Pilot’s flagship product, Pilot Works, helps employees to execute on strategies by aligning the three cornerstones of strategy management:  goals, initiatives and metrics.

Pilot Works also addresses executive requirements around these cornerstones and codifying strategies to make them relevant to the daily business processes of information workers, said SAP.

SAP said the Pilot Works product will be integrated with SAP applications and built on the SAP Netweaver platform, allowing SAP customers to use their current investments in SAP systems to gain new business value.
