Symantec has acquired Relicore, as part of its continued attempt to carve out a bigger slice of the datacentre market.

Relicore provides datacentre change and configuration management solutions.

Relicore’s Relicore Clarity product competes against enterprise datacentre products from the likes of IBM and Mercury Interactive.

The deal is expected to be completed later this month. Once complete, Relicore Clarity will be available as a stand-alone offering from Symantec’s direct sales-force and channel partners from April.

Relicore Clarity pin-points all applications running on managed servers, maps the dependencies of those servers, and keeps data current on a real-time basis.

Symantec illustrated its intention to focus more on the datacentre market with the acquisition of data back-up and data management giant Veritas.
