Intel is shipping five new software development tools that make it easier to create distributed applications used in high-performance computing clustering.
Clustering allows servers to be integrated to boost total processing power.
The Intel Cluster Tools help developers create, debug and tune high-performance applications for clusters more quickly, while reducing the costs associated with development, said Intel.
“Cluster systems are ever more important as the world uses massive computational power to solve the most challenging problems,” said James Reinders, director of marketing of the Intel software products division.
“For any platform to achieve higher levels of performance, it needs optimised software to take advantage of every ounce of computing muscle. These tools make it easier to build that software,” he said.
The new tools include Trace Analyzer and Collector 6.0, Message Passing Interface (MPI) Library 2.0, Math Kernel Library (MKL) Cluster Edition 8.0, Integrated Performance Primitives (IPP) 5.0, and VTune Performance Analyzer for Linux 8.0.
Trace Analyzer and Collector 6.0 captures and displays MPI traffic to find quickly communications bottlenecks within the cluster. This new version includes improved data presentation and scalability for large clusters.
MKL is a set of mathematical functions for engineering, scientific and financial applications requiring high performance.
MPI Library 2.0 maximises deployment flexibility by allowing applications to run on multiple network architectures without changing code, and IPP 5.0 offers optimised encryption, string handling and multimedia functions.
VTune Performance Analyzer 8.0 for Linux improves software performance by finding bottlenecks through advanced profiling technologies.
Trace Analyzer and Collector 6.0, Math Kernel Library, and MPI Library 2.0 all cost £295. Integrated Performance 5.0 costs £120, and VTune Performance Analyzer for Linux comes in at £415.
