Connecting for Health has appointed the architect of London's first NHS implementation of IDX Carecast enterprise software as the capital's regional implementation director.
Kevin Jarrold, University College London's director of information management, will take up his new job this month. The post of regional implementation director for London has been empty since the previous director, David Kwo, resigned in April.
Jarrold was the IT manager responsible for the IDX Carecast implementation at University College London's new hospital building. The hospital had a direct contractual relationship with IDX, whereas other London hospitals will have to work through local service provider BT Capital Care Alliance on rolling out the system.
Carecast integrates core clinical processes for orders, results, pharmacy and care documentation, in concert with administrative and financial processes for scheduling, registration, admitting, charging and billing.
The NHS has launched a database that has been populated with incidents of common chronic diseases by GPs. Family doctors have to submit chronic disease information under the system by which the government pays them.
