Computer Associates (CA) will add software for securing corporate data, marrying antivirus protection with web and e-mail filtering tools to its eTrust line.

eTrust Secure Content Management is due for a mid-October worldwide release.
The software incorporates CA's eTrust Antivirus software, which will also remain available as a standalone product, according to Brad Meehan, director of product management for CA's eTrust Threat Management Solutions.
"In response to customer feedback, we wanted to step back and take a more comprehensive view," Meehan said. "We've really combined management and security together into one product."
In addition to virus screening, the eTrust Secure Content Management software will allow administrators to apply security policies to traffic flowing through HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) and FTP (File Transfer Protocol) connections.
Companies can use the software to block users on their network from connecting to content such as pornographic websites, and can use customised search strings to monitor outgoing content such as e-mail.
eTrust Secure Content Management will be delivered exclusively through CA's network of channel partners. The planned price tag is $55 (£33) per seat, with discounts available for volume purchases.
For existing eTrust Antivirus customers, upgrade pricing of $22 (£13) per user is available. CA will also offer the $22 per user upgrade pricing to customers currently using rival products who are willing to migrate to CA's software, Meehan said.
CA also announced the release of BrightStor Mobile Backup 4.0. The data backup software's features include a simplified management interface and the capability for administrators to manage multiple servers from a single console.
Pricing for BrightStor Mobile Backup 4.0 starts at $495 (£294) for 10 users.
