Britvic Soft Drinks has improved customer service and increased employee efficiency since rolling out handheld devices across its 200-strong field service workforce, the drinks company said this week.

The implementation of the devices, from supplier Itronix running on Microsoft Windows CE software, has allowed field-service representatives in Britvic's vending and dispensing equipment division to complete at least one more customer call per day.

Job details are forwarded and allocated, in real time using Web services, to the company's engineers according to location and current schedules, said Lisa Heron, Technician 2000 project business leader at Britvic.
