On-line recruitment service CityJobs.com is offering its users easy access to a comprehensive selection of web-based training courses through a link on its site to e-learning provider blueU.com.

According to the company, which provides recruitment services to various sectors including IT, the alliance with blueU will enable candidates to "consolidate and expand" their skill sets before applying for jobs from the site. "It also means we can offer our clients a strong pool of skilled candidates," adds Matt Morgan, business development manager at CityJobs.

Through the link users can access more than 500 courses in the blueU portfolio covering financial, interpersonal, IT and business management skills. All are delivered on-line and allow users to "take charge" of the learning process.

"On-line learning is the most effective method of desktop training offering lower costs, a sense of community and higher rates of retention," comments Derek Fox, head of e-business development at blueU. "We are delighted to have combined with CityJobs to bring this total offering to the individual."

Course prices begin at £75, although most of the IT training packages, which include Java, C++ and HTML, for example, are on average £200 each.
