Windows security products earn top honours

First place in patch management went to GFI Software's LANguard Network Security Scanner 7, while the Gold winners for end point security and anti-X are GPAnywhere 2.5 and Spy Sweeper Enterprise 3.0. editors announced today their annual Products of the Year 2006 Awards. The winners cover three product categories with nine new or updated products that enterprise IT professionals should consider for securing Windows hardware and software.

Thirty-seven entries were evaluated for the awards, which were divided into Anti-x, Patch Management, and End Point Security categories.

The products were judged by TechTarget editors in conjunction with teams of users, industry experts, analysts and consultants. Judges evaluated Windows products introduced and shipped between Oct. 31, 2005, and Nov. 1, 2006. Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners were selected by a panel of judges based on these six criteria: innovation, performance, ease of integration into existing environments, ease of use and manageability, functionality, and value.

Some of the Gold Award winners included Webroot Inc.'s Spy Sweeper Enterprise 3.0 was awarded Product of the Year in the Anti-x category. The top spot in the Patch Management category went to GFI Software's LANguard Network Security Scanner 7, and the Gold Award winner in the End Point Security category was FullArmor's GPAnywhere 2.5. TechTarget's annual Products of the Year 2006 Awards covered a total of 15 product categories and highlighted nearly 45 new products in the Windows market that enterprise IT professionals should consider when examining new hardware and software tools. More than 160 entries vied for Product of the Year honors.
