Isle of Man-based telecommunications firm Wi-Manxhas deployed a multimillion-pound datacentre to better serve its business customers.

As part of the project the company signed a deal with Juniper to update its datacentres to serve customers with internet, voice and data facilities through its Networks EX Series Ethernet Switches and MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers.

The island has an e-gaming industry worth £150m, within which Wi-Manx has several customers. The other main industry is disaster recovery. Speed is of particular importance to these sectors, according to Joe Hughes, chief technical officer at Wi-Manx. The Ethernet will now serve customers with speeds of up to 10GB from 1GB.

"This datacentre is critical to our strategy of building on international success and becoming a truly global player in the datacentre market, enabling us to offer the very latest technology at a competitive rate," said Hughes.
