France 24 is first TV channel available via iPhone

Ian Grant

The first live TV channel to be delivered via a 3G mobile network is French, but you'll need an iPhone to watch it.

The free application, France 24 Live, is available from App Store, which uses the Mobiclip video distribution platform. It allows users to display all the programmes from the France 24 channel in live streaming or via download.

Mobiclip lets iPhone users access high-resolution TV from the French international news network via whatever network is available, including Edge, 3G or Wi-Fi.

France 24 has personalised the Mobiclip platform with the colours of the channel. It offers three live television channels in French, English and Arabic.

More than 100,000 users have already downloaded the France 24 Live application, the company said.

Mobiclip provides a "white label" turnkey video distribution platform that delivers live or on demand programming via Symbian, Windows Mobile and iPhone mobile phones. Mobiclip customers include Sony Pictures, Paramount, Nokia, Sony-Ericsson and Nintendo.
