Police recover stolen forensic server

Ian Grant

Police have recovered a server stolen from Sevenoaks-based Forensic Telecommunications Services.

The server contained information relating to forensic telephone evidence linked to some 250 police investigations over the past two years.

A police spokesman said the server was undamaged. "Examination revealed the information had not been accessed," the spokesman said. FTS declined to comment.

Officers from Kent Police and the Metropolitan Police recovered the server following a search of eight addresses in south London in the early hours of 16 August 2007.

FTS routinely provides evidence on fixed and mobile telephone use for police forces, the Crown Prosecution Service, and Customs and Revenue in connection with their investigations.
