AMCC joins forces with Avnet

In a bid to better address particular customer segments, Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) has expanded its storage division's presence in Europe by broadening its distribution network with the addition of Avnet Technology Solutions.

As part of the new deal, Avnet will market and distribute AMCC’s entire line of 3ware SATA II RAID controllers as well as the 3ware Sidecar throughout Europe.
Avnet will market to specific customer segments, and its European solutions division engineers will integrate 3ware products into servers and storage appliances.
"We are delighted to be working with AMCC Storage,” said Sukh Rayat, vice-president of Avnet Computing Components and Avnet Applied Computing Solutions EMEA.

“[The new] product portfolio, [gives] our customers the opportunity to meet the growing storage demands in server and workstation markets. Avnet customers will have the option of purchasing 3ware products not only at the component level, but also as part of a fully integrated solution from our ACS solutions team."

AMCC’s 3ware RAID controllers are designed to enable enterprise-class SATA RAID solutions for mid-level and high-end computing applications.

The agreement also includes the 3ware Sidecar, an external RAID storage solution.

It’s no real surprise to see a deal of this nature. AMCC needs a well known partner that will take the lead in its drive to address the needs of European IT departments. Key among requirements is a high level of localised service with comprehensive technical support.
