Fluke Networks has added real-time application analysis for Gigabit links within its Optiview Series III Integrated Network Analyzer tool.

The company said the tool let network administrators perform layer 3 and 2 trace routes for switch and router application interfaces, saving time and easing deployments of applications on higher-speed links.

A Free String Match detects and captures network traffic containing words in non-encrypted e-mails, web pages, file transfers or documents. This helps identify illicit network use, internal security violations and intermittent problems.
