Sainsbury's adopts new BI sales system

Sainsbury’s is using an SAS retail business intelligence (BI) system to help boost sales.

The supermarket chain is using the new BI system to securely share store lay-out and display data with its suppliers.

The detailed plans produced using the collaborative tools that come with the system help determine the best way Sainsbury’s can display its goods, and also help predict buying trends.

The Sainsbury's solution is based on SAS’s Marketmax software, which supports this so-called “planogramming” process.

The Sainsbury’s system will eventually share display and sales information with all the chain’s major suppliers.

SAS already provides similar BI systems to John Lewis and Waitrose.
