BMC Software has introduced a version of its identity management suite for Microsoft's .net platform.

The product is designed to offer users running a .net environment end-to-end identity management. The software supports workflow, directory management, audit, self-service, password management, web single sign-on, and federation.

According to analyst firm Gartner, many enterprises have a need for identity management tailored specifically for the .net environment.

Somesh Singh, vice-president and general manager of the identity management business unit at BMC Software, said, "Regardless of a customer's IT infrastructure and size, identity management is key in ensuring that IT assets are fully aligned with business objectives, and access policies and regulatory compliance requirements are being adhered to in an automated fashion."

According to BMC, users can achieve cost, time and resource savings by using identity management with the .net infrastructure.

Michael Stephenson, director of the Windows server and tools division at Microsoft said the collaboration with BMC would provide users with a more secure path to consistent identity management on the Microsoft platform.

"We are helping our customers manage and use identity data to benefit their business operations," Stephenson said.
