Mission-critical business services often depend on multiple IT components that run complex business processes in a specific order at a certain time. On average, more than 50% of critical data processing is performed in batch format, so assuring on-time completion is critical to delivering quality of service.
BMC's Control-M batch scheduling tool already delivers dynamic batch scheduling manage- ment, but the new Batch Impact Manager provides a clear picture of the status of batch business services. BMC said the software can detect potential delays as well as errors in the batch process, so that corrective actions take place before the business is affected.
Laurie Kenley, production control co-ordinator at insurance firm Cambridge Integrated Services, said, "Managing compensation, liability claims and managed care on a national basis requires an enormous number of batch jobs that are critical to our business. BMC Batch Impact Manager allows us to manage our cross-platform scheduling to let our teams know of issues before they affect the business.
"It will also let us prioritise jobs by business process, giving us the ability to manage mission-critical processes to meet our service level agreements in the event of an outage."
